How I Got Into Warhammer 40K

About 5 years ago I walked into a gaming store and saw a glass display case with Warhammer miniatures for the first time in my life.  I was completely awestruck by the amazing hand-painted miniatures that I saw.  I think my wife must have seen the look on my face because a few months after that she bought me my first Warhammer Fantasy starter set for my birthday.  I was hooked.

I first started by diving into painting the miniatures and loved it.  My enthusiasm for Warhammer rubbed off on my younger brother and when we went to visit the local Warhammer store he got hooked on the Warhammer 40k Space Marines.  After doing my research I too realized that the Warhammer 40k universe seemed even cooler to me than Warhammer Fantasy, and so began my journey into Warhammer 40k.

Because I didn’t care too much for the Battle for Macragge Starter Set, I ended up just buying random pieces from different armies such as the Eldar and the Tau.  This was a lot of fun as far as building and painting some really cool miniatures, but it wasn’t the best way to learn to play the game, so I never did end up getting into actually playing Warhammer 40k at that time.  A short while later my wife and I ended up moving to our new house and all my Warhammer stuff was packed in boxes, where it hid until now.

The new Warhammer 40k starter set is called Assault on Black Reach.  I decided to start my journey into getting back into Warhammer 40k with this starter set and I’ve created a page specifically dedicated to the Assault on Black Reach set with videos, resources and pictures.
